1. Introduction

Welcome to LumiAI. Your privacy and trust are paramount to us. LumiAI is designed to act as an intelligent voice assistant and smart device management console, powered by advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. This Privacy Policy details our practices concerning the collection, storage, use, and protection of information that is obtained when you access, download, or interact with our mobile application.

By downloading, registering with, or utilizing the LumiAI application, you consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy and agree to our processing of information in accordance with the protocols defined herein.

2. Information Collection

LumiAI collects certain information to authenticate users, persist configurations, process custom device setups, and power real-time conversational AI interactions. Below is a comprehensive breakdown of the types of data involved:

Data Type Source / Handling Classification
Google Profile Details
(Email, Full Name, Profile Image URL)
Obtained via Google Sign-In during account establishment. Used to create your user profile. Google Auth
Local Settings
(Theme Mode, UI configurations)
Stored directly on your device utilizing Encrypted SharedPreferences. Local Device
Voice Interactions
(Transcribed spoken commands)
Captured via microphone, converted to text, and fed directly to LLM services for AI reasoning. Microphone
Device Configuration
(Custom smart devices, room names, alias data)
Manually input or uploaded via CSV templates. Stored locally and backed up in secure Cloud Datastore. User Input

3. Audio & Voice Input Data

LumiAI includes advanced conversational AI capabilities that permit hands-free operations and spoken control. When you speak to the application:

  • Microphone Permission: The app requests the RECORD_AUDIO permission to record speech. This recording is triggered only upon intentional interaction (e.g., clicking the microphone button or using an active wake term).
  • Processing: Recorded audio is converted to text either locally using Android's speech recognition engines or transmitted securely to our AI models (including OpenAI API frameworks) to render responses.
  • No Audio Archiving: We do not store raw audio recordings on our servers. Once the speech-to-text conversion is finalized, raw audio frames are immediately discarded from volatile memory.
Privacy Assurance

LumiAI does not capture or monitor audio in the background silently. Microphone access is strictly active only when the conversational chat overlay is visibly open and actively recording.

4. Device Data & CSV Uploads

LumiAI contains dedicated smart dashboard functionalities designed to view, list, and control custom network and smart devices. You may register devices by creating them manually or importing them in batches using CSV files:

  • Device Attributes: The application catalogs details such as Device Name, Room Location, Room Aliases, and connection identifiers.
  • CSV File Parsing: When you select and upload a device inventory file (CSV format), the processing is completed locally on the device to read parameters (such as device names and rooms). These objects are then populated into your local dashboard and synchronized to Firebase Cloud Firestore for real-time syncing across your authenticated devices.
  • No External Device Tracking: We do not scan your home networks or read other files in your phone's storage unless you specifically target and select a CSV file to upload.

5. How We Use Data

The information we obtain is used exclusively to facilitate and improve the LumiAI application experience, specifically for:

  • Application Operation: Setting up and managing your profile, saving your device preferences, and maintaining your dark/light theme options.
  • AI Model Inference: Routing text queries and speech transcripts to our secure endpoints to receive intelligent replies, generate schedules, or analyze device structures.
  • Synchronization: Using Google Services and Firebase to back up your custom device catalogs so that your information remains accessible if you change mobile devices.
  • Diagnostic Maintenance: Monitoring runtime exceptions and debug events (such as tracking signature diagnostics for secure login handshakes) to resolve bugs and prevent crashes.

6. Third-Party Integrations & Services

To deliver advanced cloud authentication and intelligent response layers, LumiAI integrates with verified third-party partners. These services adhere to their respective privacy standards:

  • Firebase (Google LLC): We utilize Firebase Authentication to verify identity and Google Cloud Firestore to manage data synchronization. Data transmission is safeguarded via SSL/TLS encryption. You can view Firebase Privacy Details.
  • Google Sign-In: LumiAI integrates Google Identity APIs to allow swift account registration. Profile details are restricted strictly to your basic identifier.
  • OpenAI APIs: Spoken requests and chat texts are routed to secure OpenAI endpoints to generate natural responses. Data sent to the OpenAI API is governed by OpenAI's API Data Privacy Policy, ensuring it is not used to train public models.

7. App Permissions

LumiAI requests specific runtime permissions to function correctly on Android OS. You have total autonomy to grant or revoke these permissions at any time via system settings:

  • INTERNET: Essential to communicate with the Firebase backend databases, synchronize device portfolios, and fetch responses from the OpenAI API.
  • RECORD_AUDIO: Used to record voice prompts within the AI Chat panel. The app requests this permission dynamically.
  • WAKE_LOCK: Utilized internally to prevent CPU sleep-cycles during speech translation pipelines or data imports, securing transaction integrity.
  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS: (For Android 13+) Used to alert you to background tasks, finished CSV parsing, or AI system responses.

8. Security & Data Storage

We deploy robust industry-standard safeguards to maintain the confidentiality and safety of your information:

  • Encryption in Transit: All communication between the LumiAI client app and backend cloud services is protected using TLS/SSL encryption algorithms.
  • Storage Security: Data stored on the device (like authentication tokens or preferences) uses Android secure sandboxed storage. Cloud instances utilize Firestore security rule policies, ensuring only authenticated accounts can access corresponding files.
  • Retention Policy: We retain account profiles and device dashboards as long as your account is active. If you log out or delete your profile, we trigger standard data purging workflows.

9. Your Rights & Choices

We believe in giving you absolute power over your personal data:

  • Access & Export: You can review and view your registered devices and profile metrics directly from the Profile Panel inside LumiAI.
  • Revocation & Deletion: You can clear your local database at any time by wiping app storage. If you want to delete your synced cloud data or Google authentication mappings, you can request account termination by emailing us.
  • API Opt-out: You can choose not to grant microphone permissions. In this scenario, you can still type text requests in the chat screen.
